Greetings from the mountainside farm!

Hello wonderful readers, and welcome to my first newsletter from the mountainside at Kõrgemäe Farm. I’ve fully unpacked, my Temple is set up, and I am adapting to rural farm living. Each day brings something new to the Farm; Kune Kune pigsScottish Highland “Coos“, barn cats, groundhogs, wild turkeys, and a few nights ago, the local coyote pack howled their “welcome” too!

Once I introduced myself to the local land spirits, they showed me the next evolution of my shamanic work. I am living on the battlegrounds that were created during the Civil War (Harpers’ Ferry, Antietam, Gettysburg, etc.). These major wounds of soul loss arise from the enslavement and genocide that form our beloved-but-broken country. Shamanism addresses and heals the roots of trauma; I am discovering how to address these formative, colonial egregores that affect our citizenry & governmental systems today.

Currently, I am working with clients in a myriad of ways. Because COVID-19 is still with us, I am working over Zoom/Skype/FaceTime, and teaching workshops in this way (for now). I have been able to work with a handful of clients on the healing grounds of the property itself (negative COVID test & liability signature required). This adds animal healing support & integration/aftercare when individual ceremonies have ended.

I am enraptured with the gifts of this Land, its Mountain energies, the blessings of its Spring Waters, and the charm of the 220-year old Farmhouse. I hope to share its healing energies with those who are able to make the commute to Washington County, Maryland.

Blessings,
Monika Kojote

Working shamanically with Plants

From WikiCommons, public domain

On Sunday, July 17th, starting at 3pm EST, Rev. Monika Kojote will be teaching an online workshop on working shamanically with plants (lecture given over Zoom).

We are fully within the season of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, and gardens, parks, and community farms are full of healing plants! Many of us started to grow our own food & herbs during Shelter-In-Place 2020. Are you ready to connect with your Plant Spirits at a deeper level?

Please join Rev. Monika Kojote in a 2-hour workshop on shamanic practices that help bridge a connection with ALL types of plants! This class will include techniques within both the physical and metaphysical worlds, and guidance for starting a dialogue with your plants (to help them adapt & thrive in these times of climate change).

The cost of this workshop is $25, and a recording will be made for all paid attendees to keep!

Honoring the Truth-Tellers during Independence Day

Recently, the local historians & politicians of Washington County honored Freedom of the Press Day here in Maryland. Friends of mine invited me to join them at the only National War Correspondents Memorial within the United States.

(c) Rev. Monika Kojote, 2022

During the memorial service that focused on honoring the five journalists who were killed in Annapolis last year, I felt centered, opened up my boundaries, and give prayers & offerings to these Mighty Dead.

Since that day, I have felt the presence of these truth-tellers as our country struggles with the push-pull of constant, ongoing traumatic change. We have continually suffered under the collapse of our country’s structures (Tower Time), and every single citizen and guest of the United States has felt pain and damage.

Much effort has been brought forth by advocates to protect the Board of Elections, ensure safe voting practices, support ethical practices among our governmental leaders, and ask for divine intervention to hold oath-breakers accountable. My own group of students & co-healers have spent years in group ceremonies to protect the peoples of the United States, especially BIPOC, queer, disabled, and other marginalized folx.

What helped us most in our advocacy and societal works is ethical & truthful reporting from journalists and news media. How can we know where to focus our efforts unless we support the “seers” that bring us information?

During Independence Day weekend, I began prayers to the Mighty Dead of journalists, war correspondents, truth-tellers, oracles, and seers of all sorts. These cultural ancestors sacrificed their lives in order to bring information to the People in order to enact change.

I ask for help from the Community: those who are willing, please join me in daily prayers for both our ancestral truth-tellers and our current ones. Imbue your magics with the need for Truth, Sovereignty, and Power of Speech. By increasing what we what manifest in our world, we are better able to decrease the power of lies, unethical rhetoric, manipulation, and falsehood.

We are a county that is struggling with reality-testing during these traumatic times, and the only way forward in this complete Void/Unknown is with the reporting of Truth.

12 year Shamanniversary!

Today marks my anniversary of becoming a shaman for the MidAtlantic, East Coast, and international online community! Aaaaooo!

(c) 2017, Rev. Monika Kojote

Twelve years ago, I was preparing for my first public healing ceremony, as part of my on-the-job training studies with my former shamanism school (now permanently closed). That day was initiatory in so many different ways, and really helped me to trust and believe in the skills I was taught in order to help bring healing to any/all individuals who gave ethical consent. In the 4.5 hours that followed, I worked closely with 21 different strangers, providing insight, counsel, and energy healing. I crashed HARD in bed that night, ha ha ha! But once I felt the magic flowing through me, and discovered how effective the Spirits were in communicating with my clients, I was hooked. This is now my full time job & lifelong commitment!

This is a super-important weekend for me, and not just because of my shaman anniversary. It is also a powerful Eclipse, Beltane season, and the weekend of a major move of my home, office, and healing temple!

I’ve been a City Druid and healer my entire life, but for the very first time, at age 41, I will be making the move to a fully rural environment, along the Appalachian trail and South Mountain region of Washington County, MD.

Stay tuned as I bring updates of country living, nature spirituality, druid healing practices, animal healing, and of course, my continued work as a shaman for the MidAtlantic and online communities.

Aaaaooooo!

Rites of Passage Working Group tomorrow!

(c) 2022, Rev. Monika Kojote

On Sunday, 16 April 2022, from 2pm EST to 5:30pm EST, Rev. Monika Kojote will facilitate a self-healing group that digs into the difficulties of progressing through adulthood in the 21st century. A re-classification of the “rites of passage” through human life will be created, and members will honor each other with support during significant periods of their life’s story. Ritual, shamanic healing, spiritual journey, plant medicines, clergy counseling, psychopomp work, and life blessings are just some of the supports given to all members!

Please join Rev. Monika Kojote and fellow members in working together deeply at the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels for self-healing. This group REQUIRES ONE INTERVIEW with Rev. Kojote BEFORE JOINING (in order to balance confidentiality & group dynamics), and has many built-in breaks. The cost of attendance is $40, and the Zoom password will be given to those who have prepaid their fee.

This month’s lesson will be on BOUNDARIES– interpersonal, work-related, family, and more. Hope to see you soon!

Workshop: Divination in personal practice

Do you struggle with memorizing the definitions of tarot cards? Do you find that the Rune Poems don’t quite resonate with your experiences of life in the 21st century? Do you have relationships with more than the 20-25 trees of the Irish Ogham (including trees in your own local ecosystem)?

Please join Rev. Monika Kojote in a 2-hr workshop on divination practices within one’s personal spirituality. This class will be on Sunday, 27 March 2022, from 3pm EST to 5pm EST. Rev. Kojote will start with a lecture reviewing tarot, runes, and ogham, then a demonstration of techniques common to all methods of divination (within IE practices), Q&A, and end a group practice session.

The cost of this workshop is $25, and a recording will be made for all paid attendees to keep!

Rites of Passage group this Sunday

This month’s group will be from 2pm to 5:30pm EST on Sunday, 23rd January 2022. The topic of healing will be inherited ancestral trauma, which builds on the two previous topics: co-creating our own rites of passage (Oct 2021) and how unsupported growth in our individuality leads to energetic, etheric, and auric damage (Dec 2021).

Reminder– you MUST schedule a short interview with me if this will be your first class, to go over group rules, confidentiality, and dynamic fit. You do NOT need to have attended the previous sessions for this working group; each lesson can stand alone in its healing!

Yuletide blessings & shame-eating

On 20th December, 2021, at 7pm EST, the Community and I gathered together in sacred space to fight against our inner darkness, shame, and trauma, and relight our flames of Hope!

(c) Rev. Monika Kojote, 2021

Not many know of the Celtic ritual of “sin eating:” a practice that saved the lives and souls of our Ancestors during the cold, dark winter. There are very few historical records surrounding this Druid indigenous practice, although it is still currently practiced in Wales (even into the 21st century!).

This year, Coyote offered to assist in the transmutation of “sins” by providing discussion on shame instead. While “sin” is a limited Xtian concept, shame is universal to all cultures, all genders, and all social-economic statuses.

“Shame is corrosive; it is a cancer- a tumor that grows from the injury of trauma, and the wounding of betrayal…” — Dr. Peter Levine

Shame is directly attached to the nervous system through trauma; injuries that are emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual in nature, and are directly tied to the Fight, Flight, or Freeze system.

Are you trapped by others’ limited beliefs about your capacity for success? Have you been stereotyped as the “black sheep” within your family, your workgroup, your community? Please watch and engage with this ritual, and begin to remove the projections that have been placed upon you that ARE NOT TRUE!

This ritual includes a short lecture on the psycho-spiritual aspects of shame, how our Ancestors attempted to transmute it, and how humans in the 21st century are struggling with it. After the lecture, a guided healing journey will be given to help viewers release their own toxic shame, receive healing from the Spirits, and return hope and light to their system.
